Onboard a firm¶
Take a newly created firm through the guided onboarding wizard — legal identity, regulatory details, licensing, and its first brand and user.
Onboarding is the guided setup that turns a freshly created firm into a working one. The wizard walks you through a sequence of steps, saves your progress as you go, and finishes by confirming everything required is in place.
Prerequisites
- You are signed in to the Backoffice with a role that grants access to firm operations and onboarding.
- You have selected the workspace of the firm you want to onboard. Onboarding always targets the currently active workspace — the System (root) workspace cannot be onboarded, and selecting it shows a prompt to pick a firm instead.
Start onboarding¶
- Select the firm's workspace, then open Onboarding from the sidebar.
- If the firm has not been onboarded before, a Start onboarding card appears. Click Start onboarding to begin.
Work through the wizard¶
The wizard is titled with the firm's name, with a breadcrumb of numbered step badges across the top. The current step is highlighted; you can click back to any earlier step, but cannot skip ahead past incomplete ones. Each step has Back and Save & next buttons — saving persists the step before advancing, so you can leave at any point and resume later with everything still in place.
Which steps appear depends on the onboarding flow template in use; without one, a default sequence of Identity, Regulatory, License, and Review applies. The possible steps:
- Identity — the firm's legal identity: legal name (required), registration number, jurisdiction, registered address, contact email, and contact phone.
- Regulatory — regulator name (required), license number and type, the list of permitted activities (one per line), and effective and expiry dates (the expiry can be left open-ended).
- License — choose a license template from those available to the firm.
- First brand — create the firm's first brand: name, host address, and its supported languages (the first listed becomes the default). Existing brands are listed, and the step is complete once at least one exists.
- First user — create the firm's first Backoffice user: name, email (pre-filled from the Identity contact email if left blank), password, and an optional permission group. Complete once at least one user exists.
- Review — always the final step: a read-only summary of the identity and regulatory details plus a provisioning checklist showing each item as Done or Pending.
Finish¶
On the Review step, click Finish. The button stays disabled until every required step is satisfied. Finishing finalizes the onboarding and takes you to the firm's workspace page.
