Choose which categories each country sees¶
Decide, country by country, which categories of prediction markets your traders are shown.
Not every category suits every market you operate in. Category enablement is a matrix: each row is a country, each column is a category, and each cell says whether traders in that country see markets from that category.
Prerequisites
- Predictions is enabled for your firm — see Turn on Predictions.
- Your permission group grants the Predictions View capability to read the matrix, and the Catalog capability to change it. With view only, the page says you do not have permission to change the matrix.
- Changes are refused while you are acting as another user.
Open the screen¶
In the left sidebar, open Predictions and choose Category enablement.
Set the firm default¶
The Default for anything not listed switch decides what happens to every country and category you have written no rule for:
- Show categories that have no rule — the usual setting. The matrix then works as a block list: you only write rules for what you want to hide.
- Hide categories that have no rule — the matrix works as an allow list. Nothing is shown until you switch it on.
Add a country and set its cells¶
- Click Add country and pick a country from the list. You can search by name or by code.
- Click a cell to cycle it through three values: inherited (no rule here), hidden, and shown.
- Repeat for the categories you care about, then save.
A legend under the matrix names the three states, and each cell tells you where its current value came from: set on this cell, from the All countries row, from that country's All categories cell, or from the firm default.
How a cell is resolved¶
The platform reads the rules in this order and stops at the first match:
- The exact country-and-category cell.
- The All countries row for that category.
- That country's All categories cell.
- The firm default.
The All countries row deliberately outranks a country's All categories cell. Switching a whole category off is a compliance statement about that category, and a country-wide "show everything" must not quietly re-admit it.
Traders with no recognized country
An account with no country recorded — or with a value the platform cannot resolve to a country — can only ever be matched by the All countries row and by the firm default. A country-specific rule can never apply to them, so make sure those two say what you want for that group.
What traders see¶
The country used is the one recorded on the trader's account; it is never taken from anything the trader can choose per request.
The matrix filters everything a trader browses — the dashboard, the categories, the rails, the search results, and the market pages — and it is applied before markets are ranked, so a hidden market cannot reappear by being popular. It does not change your listings: a market hidden from one country stays published and stays on sale everywhere it is allowed.
Two safeguards are worth knowing:
- A market a trader already holds is never hidden from them. They can always read its rules and watch it settle, whatever the matrix says.
- A trader for whom every category is hidden is shown no Predictions section at all, rather than an empty one with live entry points.
