Review and publish a market¶
Work through the markets the source has supplied, decide which ones your firm will sell, and publish them with a selling deadline you choose.
The Catalog inbox holds every prediction market the source has supplied that your firm has not decided on yet — either never listed, or listed and still hidden from traders. Nothing reaches a trader from here by accident: a market is only sold once someone publishes it.
Prerequisites
- Predictions is enabled for your firm — see Turn on Predictions.
- Your permission group grants the Predictions View capability to open the inbox, and the Catalog capability to publish. Without the catalog capability the Publish button is not shown at all.
- Publishing is refused while you are acting as another user.
- You have an active pricing policy, commission policy, and risk policy — check the overview before you publish your first market.
Open the inbox¶
In the left sidebar, open Predictions and choose Catalog inbox.
Narrow the list¶
Set the filters and click Run:
- Topic — one of the market categories, or All topics.
- Search — matches a question, a market id, or an event.
- Rows — how many rows to fetch.
The inbox reads a bounded page. When there is more than it fetched, a note says so and asks you to narrow the filters rather than paging endlessly.
Each row shows the Question, its Topic, the Provider close (when the source stops the market), the Provider state, and the Listing status — Not listed for a market your firm has never touched.
Review a market¶
Click a row to open the review panel.
It gathers everything you need to make the decision:
- Provider facts — the source, the market's id at the source, its state, its close and expiration times, and the payout per contract.
- Outcomes — each side, its label, and its payout.
- Current revision — the revision number, a fingerprint of the rules text so you can tell whether anything has changed, the rules, any additional rules, and the Resolution source that decides the answer.
- Why this cannot be sold yet — a plain list of what is standing in the way, or a note that nothing is.
Use Open the full market to read the rules on the market's own page — see Market details and featured copy.
Warning
Read the resolution source and the additional rules before you publish. They are what the result will be judged against, they are shown to your traders verbatim, and a market whose rules you have not read is one your desk cannot answer questions about.
No result source, no listing
Every market you sell must name an external, public authority for its result. Your firm sets the price and pays the winners, so it is never the body that decides the outcome. A market whose Resolution source is empty cannot be published: the platform refuses it and says why. Such a market still appears in the inbox — you need to be able to see one to understand why it cannot be sold — it simply never reaches a trader.
Publish it¶
- In the review panel, click Publish.
- Set the House cutoff — the moment your firm stops selling this market. The dialog states the allowed window, which always ends comfortably before the source's own close so your firm is never selling into the last seconds. A time outside the window is refused rather than quietly moved.
- (Optional) Add a Note recording why you are publishing. It is kept with the listing for the audit trail.
- Click Publish.
The market becomes buyable for your firm from now until the house cutoff, priced by your active policies.
Note
A market already inside the source's closing margin has no cutoff left to give it. The dialog says so and offers no time to pick — there is nothing wrong, the market is simply too late to sell.
If new selling is blocked for your firm, the dialog says so and publishing is refused. See Holds and blocked selling. Publishing is also refused while you are acting as another user — sign back in as yourself.
Publishing is not the same as showing
A published market is offered wherever your country-by-category rules allow it, and nowhere else. See Choose which categories each country sees.
