Instrument overrides and trading settings¶
Tailor how each instrument trades for one workspace — markup, spread, policies, leverage, and more — and set the workspace-wide hedging default.
Prerequisites
- The workspace you want to configure is selected.
- The workspace has at least one assigned instrument pack — without one there are no instruments to override.
Open Instrument overrides in the sidebar. The page has two tabs: Instruments and Trading settings.
The Instruments tab¶
Every instrument available to the workspace appears as a row. Rows with an override are badged Added and sort first; the rest are badged Available. Editing any cell on an Available row creates an override for that instrument when you save.
Inherited vs. overridden values¶
Each cell shows either the workspace's own value (normal contrast) or, when nothing is set, the value inherited from the base instrument (grayed). A dash means nothing is set anywhere. To override a value, edit the cell; to return a single field to inherited, clear the cell. To reset an instrument entirely, click the trash icon on its row and confirm Delete this instrument override? — the instrument returns to Available and inherits everything again.
Edit cells by double-clicking (or right-click to bulk-edit a column across selected rows), then click Save; Cancel discards pending edits.
What you can override¶
- Name, Contract size, Display digits, Tradability (full-trade, close-only, or non-tradable), and Execution mode (Market, Instant, or Request — Request currently behaves the same as Instant).
- Hedge percentage — 0–100, inheriting from the workspace hedging setting (see the Trading settings tab below).
- Symbol group — pick one of the workspace's own groups or an inherited one; see Market hours.
- Leverage — the same group-or-specific-rule editor as the instrument catalog, drawing on leverage groups.
- Flag — a workspace-specific flag icon shown in WebTrader; reset to inherit the base instrument's flag.
- Price Shift and Spread — the markup policy, in instrument pips. Price shift adjusts the bid and ask of the raw feed price before it reaches quotes, charts, and P&L; spread sets a spread mode (None, Fixed, or Variable) and value. The two parts inherit independently — leave a field blank to inherit.
- Amount policy — min lot, max lot, and lot step.
- Commission policy — commission type (Pips or Percentage), amount, and minimum commission.
- Swap policy — the same editor as the catalog: swap type, long/short values, and optional weekday multipliers.
Warning
Markup changes take effect on live pricing for every account in the workspace. Each change is recorded — review and manage past changes in Markup history.
The single-override editor¶
Click an override's ID to open a full-page editor with the same fields organized into cards. Each simple field has an Inherit checkbox — while checked, the inherited value is shown read-only; untick it to set your own. The target instrument is locked after creation; delete and re-create the override to retarget it.
The Trading settings tab¶
This tab holds the workspace-wide Hedging default, which every instrument inherits unless overridden per instrument.
- Choose the Hedging mode — Percentage. (A netting mode is shown as coming soon and cannot be selected.)
- Set the Hedge percentage from 0 to 100 — 0 means no hedging (full margin is taken); 100 means full hedging (no margin taken).
- Click Save.
