Market hours¶
Define when instruments trade: weekly trading sessions, a holiday calendar, and the symbol groups that organize instruments for traders.
Prerequisites
- Your role grants access to the trading sessions, holidays, and symbol groups pages.
- An instrument picks up a schedule when you assign it a trading session on the instrument catalog.
Trading sessions¶
A trading session is a weekly open/close schedule. Each instrument is assigned one session, which drives when it quotes and when it trades.
Open Trading Sessions in the sidebar. The list shows each session's ID, Name, its rates schedule and trading schedule (as range counts, or a note that trading matches rates), its Timezone, and how many holidays apply to it.
To create a session, click Add trading session, name it, and click Create — then open it to define the schedule.
Edit a session¶
The session editor has a name and Timezone field (all schedule times are interpreted in this timezone) and two schedules:
- Rates schedule — the base window during which the instrument quotes.
- Trading schedule — when orders can be placed. Leave Trading same as rates checked to mirror the rates window, or untick it to define a narrower window. A trading range that falls outside the rates window shows an error and blocks saving.
Each schedule is a list of weekly ranges. Click Add range and enter a
Start and End as a day-of-week and time (for example, 1.09:00:00
to 1.17:00:00 for Monday 09:00–17:00); the editor shows the resolved
weekday and the range's duration, and flags invalid values.
A Holiday calendars section lists all holidays with checkboxes — tick the ones that apply to this session.
Holidays¶
Open Holidays in the sidebar to manage the holiday calendar. The list shows each holiday's ID, Name, Date, whether it is Enabled, and its Working hours — either closed all day or the partial-day windows during which trading is allowed.
To add a holiday, click Add holiday, name it, and set the Month and Day. Recurs every year is checked by default; untick it to set a specific Year. New holidays start enabled and closed all day.
Open a holiday to refine it:
- Working hours — add time windows (start and end, such as
09:00:00–12:00:00) to allow partial-day trading; no windows means the market is closed for the whole day. - Enabled — untick to keep the holiday on file without applying it.
- Trading sessions — tick the sessions this holiday applies to; the assignment is the same one shown on the session editor.
Symbol groups¶
Symbol groups are named instrument categories — such as Forex Major or Crypto — used to filter the rates panel in WebTrader. You assign a group to each instrument on the instrument catalog, and a workspace can override the group per instrument on its instrument overrides page.
Open Symbol groups in the sidebar. To create one, click Add group and enter a Name and Description. Opening a group lets you rename it or delete it.
Warning
Deleting a symbol group takes effect immediately, without a confirmation prompt.
