Using your notifications inbox

Manage the notifications that land in your inbox — read them, clear them, and jump straight to the record each one is about.

Prerequisites

This page covers working through your inbox day to day. If you are opening it for the first time, start with Notifications inbox, which walks through finding the bell in the user menu and reading your first notification.

How your inbox updates

Your inbox is personal: you see only the notifications addressed to you. There is no shared team feed, and no role — not even an administrator — sees another operator's notifications.

Notifications arrive by periodic refresh rather than by instant push. Your inbox re-checks for new items roughly every half a minute while the Backoffice is open, so a new notification appears a short moment after the event that caused it, not the instant it happens. You do not need to reload the page.

The unread badge on the Notifications entry counts how many notifications you have not yet read. When you have more than 99 unread, the badge shows 99+ until you bring the count back down.

Open a record and mark notifications read

Clicking a notification opens its linked record and marking notifications read work the same here as when you first meet the inbox — see Notifications inbox for the steps. Two details worth knowing day to day:

  • A notification with no linked record simply marks itself read when you click it; there is nowhere to jump to.
  • Marking a notification read does not remove it. It stays in your inbox so you can still open its record later; it just no longer counts toward the unread badge.

Empty and loading states

  • While your inbox is fetching its latest items, the panel shows a brief loading state.
  • When you have no notifications, the panel tells you your inbox is empty. New notifications appear here as events happen on the accounts you own.
